Just like last year, the attic was once again filled with hardworking temporary workers during the school holidays. However, this time it is a completely different space. Last year it was demolition, but this year, after a year of renovations and significant changes, it was a great joy to assemble new furniture in beautiful clean spaces. The younger ones participated, who surely enjoyed playing with the large and small parts from the construction sets, rummaging through bags of screws, and finding the right placement for each one. The attic now smells of wood, and there is plenty of light coming from the white walls.
Corridor work
New furniture is like whipped cream on a well-baked cake… but it hasn't been so easy this year. The focus of demanding work has shifted to the corridor and other areas. I mean, who would walk into a beautiful renovated attic through a corridor that hasn’t been painted for many years? Additionally, it was necessary to completely renovate the electrical installation here and add the necessary emergency lighting required by regulations for accommodation spaces. So after the younger "holiday-makers," a group of students came and took up scrapers, first removing the layers of previous paintings. Then, the locations and routes for the new electrical installation were measured, and once again the parish was filled with dust. Drills, chisels, hammers… and also brooms, shovels, buckets, brushes, and rags were in constant use daily.
Now it’s all good, the corridor is a corridor again, the electrical installations are ready, and all cables are hidden under the plaster, with only their ends peeking from the walls. Surely, you can imagine how many times, for example, the granite stairs had to be scrubbed. By the way, today they are being primed and painted to look good and also to be easier to keep clean.

What still remains
Anyone who has arranged a new apartment knows that there are many little things to be finalized. The builders did their work neatly and left, and the spaces need to be prepared for habitation. Beautiful, brand new furniture is fine, but when a bulb is hanging from the ceiling on wires, something is still missing. So now it is time for the demanding (including financially) finishing touches and equipping with lights, lamps, hardware for new doors, and also setting up a nice kitchenette. It turned out well, and many might say, I would also like to have one like that.
Reading Room
This is another beautiful new space in the parish, which is now a bit out of the way. The former overcrowded library is now a nice open area, dominated by a new massive wooden staircase. It will surely now be a pleasant space for meetings, conversations, discussions, and certainly also for rest and relaxation. The books, which will partially return to the carefully renovated shelves, will invite browsing and reading. Work on setting this place up will continue as soon as the accommodation part of the attic is completed and ready to offer its spaces to guests.
