Attic in pink?

Work on the renovation of the parish attic is progressing at a rapid pace. Initially, there wasn’t much to see during the renovation. Strengthening the roof structure, preparing materials, and treating beams with protective coatings certainly required a lot of effort, but nothing was visibly added.

Visible (big) changes

The situation changed with the installation of insulation, mineral wool. Every piece of the attic's exterior shell was perfectly filled with it to prevent heat escape and thermal bridges in the future. And that was already visible. The last area to be insulated was the large space for the future community room. A vapor barrier that looks like aluminum foil is being applied over the completed thermal insulation, and that is another very visible change. Everywhere, the framework of metal profiles appears, onto which drywall sheets are gradually being screwed today. Since we are in the attic, they must have fire resistance, which is indicated by the pink color of their surface (hence the title of this article). At the same time, new heating lines are being prepared, as well as a completely new electrical installation. There is much that is worth seeing, so here are at least a few photos as a thank you to everyone who supports this project.

And why are we actually doing this?

We started the project mainly because of the growing activities of the parish. Another community room is necessary, as the spaces on the ground floor are often filled with various groups whose activities overlap in time. These activities are often accompanied by the need for accommodation for interesting guests who enrich the life of the parish with spiritual retreats and lectures. Certainly not the least of the reasons are financial. The newly insulated spaces will prevent heat escape from the lower floors and reduce heating costs. Nice accommodation in the city center, which we will offer for parish tourism in an interesting location, will bring funds to the parish budget. The parish has very few other sources of income and yet remains very vibrant and active.

Project financing

Two million crowns for the planned construction modifications of the attic are largely secured from the parish budget. We hope to raise another million crowns from sponsors and small donors. It is usually the case that additional things needing to be done arise during the work. Furnishing with new furniture, bedding, lighting, and other small items will also cost something. Therefore, we kindly ask for your support. Most importantly, the spiritual support, prayers for the success of the project, so that it may serve for the development of our parish in the future, attract interesting guests to us, offering them a pleasant environment, or serve other purposes related to pastoral care.
